My support to the Har. Govt.’s decision to fix minimum educational qualification for panchayat elections in Haryana, in a TV debate of India News Channel

The Supreme Court (SC) today agreed to hear on Monday the plea on which it had stayed the operation of recent changes in Haryana election laws that have made certain educational qualifications compulsory for contesting Panchayat polls.
In this regard, my support to the Har. Govt.’s decision to fix minimum educational qualification for panchayat elections in Haryana, in a TV debate of India News Channel; on SC stay in this regard, has led to different reactions of people from all walks of life; coloured with different perspectives. I love different perspectives and always open to change my perspective, if the same is based on reason.
But the most wonderful and interesting queries from the family & relatives are: “Have you joined BJP?” बी.जे.पी. जॉइन करने का मूड है क्या? ‘You’ve inclination towards BJP ideology’ etc I wonder at such queries. Let me clear, as a matter of fact, I had participated in the debate as a legal expert guest, not as a representative of any political party. My protracted dislike for politics has been reinforced by my first hand tormented experience with politics; so all political parties for me, by and large, are one and the same. All political parties are full of incompetent, opportunists, crooked and manipulative persons, sans any principle, motivated by personal gains, except a few, who are branded to be ‘unfit’ to be the representative of people. So, there is no question of ‘joining’ or ‘inclination’ towards any political party. I am open to support rational & good cause of any political party.
I wonder how the support to a social, democratic and a progressive law can be seen as a support to a political party or a political ideology. I repeat, the SC decision to stay the function of the Haryana Panchayati Raj (amendment) Act 2015 serves a blow to the panchayati raj reforms initiative. The stay by the Supreme Court came shortly after the Punjab and Haryana High Court refused to intervene with the law. The Supreme Court's odd intervention is preceded by its refusal, in January this year, to entertain a similar challenge against the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2014.

  1. The lesser is said about political parties the better. Thease people are rank opportunists. See how a person not given by his party the ticket, lmmediately joins another which is willing to accomodate him. As far as a principled decision, it is great that the SC is willing to hear matters.
