On Sudnay (25.10.2015)
I received a letter from an accused having spent more than 12 years in Jail;
out of Life Imprisonment awarded for committing double murder in family feud. He
has sent letter to me through his wife; who gave me telephonic call to have appointment.
She told me that her husband had asked to deliver that letter to me. I don’t know
how did my mobile no. reached in Jail.
Be that as it may, I am really perplexed in what way I should help him.
In fact, the letter reinforces my beliefs and experience about the life inside
the fore-walls of prison. The letter is a harrowing tale of life inside prison,
where from bottom to top, including Jail Supdt., Doctors, Nambardar, and other
senior officers in hierarchy are part of larger conspiracy of corruption,
murder, torture, extortion, where a soft criminal is turned into a hard
criminal. And, if a jail inmate raises his voice against the corruption and
maladministration he loses his all fundamental rights; which are spontaneous privilege
of all humans.
I don’t know to whom I should approach for the evident corruption, crime
and malpractices behind the four walls of prison, because I am given to
understand that the money milked from corruption and irregularities in Jail
reaches up to top hierarchy of Jai authorities. If I approach High Court; even
then chances are that the enquiry would be handed over to the same officers;
who are beneficiary of the whole conspiracy of corruption, extortion, torture
rampant in jails.
In the morning, again, I received telephonic call from the wife of the prisoner asking me the action on the letter given below and how much fee I will charge. I just bought time to ponder over the issue and told her that the question of fee will arise only if I can take some fruitful action in the matter.
