In the rape
case involving the Deputy Mayor of Gurgaon, the Punjab and Haryana High
Court has directed the Commissioner of Police here to provide the victim
and her family adequate security till further orders.
The
Court has also issued a notice to accused Parminder Kataria and the
Director General of Police (Haryana) asking why the interim bail granted
by the High Court earlier this month should not be cancelled.
The 36-year-old rape victim had filed a petition seeking cancellation of the bail granted to the Deputy Mayor.
Her
lawyer Pardeep Rapria had told the court that the accused, using his
political influence, was constantly threatening the victim to withdraw
the case.
The
court was also told that the accused allegedly raped the victim again
after being granted interim bail. Mr. Rapria also said that the victim
was forced to submit an affidavit for withdrawing the case owing to the
influence of the accused. Further, the lawyer told the court that the
police was acting in collusion with the accused as he had not been
arrested despite his anticipatory bail being rejected by the Sessions
Court of Gurgaon.
The court has now directed the DG Police and the accused to file a reply by February 15, 2016.
The
complainant had accused the Deputy Mayor of raping her on the pretext
of marrying her and getting her a job in the Municipal Corporation of
Gurgaon.
In
her complaint, the victim said that Kataria went to Agra with her,
where he showed her his divorce papers to win her confidence. He
promised to marry her soon and allegedly raped her.
He
also allegedly raped her during a trip to Panchkula. The woman, in her
complaint, said that when she realised that the divorce papers were
fake, Kataria allegedly promised to get her a job in the MCG and
continued to sexually exploit her.
