Complete corruption probe within two months: High Court directs Haryana Vigilance Bureau.

CHANDIGARH, TUESDAY- Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday directed the Director, State Vigilance Bureau to complete the probe into corruption in the construction of Sahabad of District – Kurukshetra. It may be recalled that earlier on Thursday Justice Rakesh Jain of High Court had instructed the counsel for the Vigilance Bureau to apprise the court as to how much time it will take to complete the probe, especially when the Chief Minister had approved the vigilance investigation. When the counsel appearing for the vigilance informed the court that the Vigilance had collected the sample material from the already constructed road and sent the same to the Madhuban lab, on this, Mr. Pardeep Rapria the Counsel for Petitioner Rakesh Bains submitted that the vigilance investigation appears to be investigating only the use of inferior quality material in the construction of roads, whereas it has maintained complete silence on the CD containing voices of the officers demanding bribe from the contractors and there is also complete silence on the disappearance of road shown to be constructed on paper. Then the counsel for vigilance further informed the court that the Vigilance Bureau is in the process of collecting voice samples of the officials and very soon, it will be sent to the lab. Vigilance requested six months time to complete the probe, but High Court granted only two months to complete the probe and submit report before the High Court. The matter will come up for further hearing on 17th July 2016.
